May's Luncheon Round Tables A Success!

At our May luncheon event, the Chamber's Education and Economic Development Committee (CWEEDC) hosted a roundtable luncheon program. This is the first time the Chamber has ever conducted a luncheon of this kind and we are very pleased with the results. Dr. Martha Martin set the stage for the questions, created by the committee, that each table was going to discuss. The members of the Committee and the Board (Mike Nerland, Damon Webster, Steve Hogan, Laura Forsyth, and Rosemary Cooke) lead the discussions and recorded the results. 

Here is a sample of the questions and responses from the event. Topic number one: Adapting to the Change in the Market. Questions: As the climate around your business changes how has your business changed? Answers by the roundtable: Nonprofits and governments have been seeking funding in alternative ways like federal grants, stimulus grants and conducting more fundraising programs. More dollars have been spent on marketing as the climate changes for area businesses. The focus has also shifted to helping customers as much as possible. Offering more free advice and consultations is one way to help customers more as well as offering payment plans or extended hours and service on the weekends so people can take less time off work. A Message from the CW Chamber President

One of the most enjoyable aspects of living in this area is its natural beauty, which was quite evident during these recent sunny days we’ve been enjoying. It really brings out the walkers, strollers, bicyclists and motorcyclists.  Our downtown areas in particular have increased non-vehicular traffic.  As a fellow motorcyclist and walker, I’d like to remind people to pay extra attention to pedestrians (especially children), bicyclists, and motorcyclists.
